MELHORES DISCOS DE 2011 - LISTAS DA CRÍTICA MUNDIAL

Meio atrasado, não? Pois é, este post era para ter saido no final do ano, mas mesmo após a decisão pela retomada do blog, o tempo de vencer a inércia e voltar a publicar algo foi maior do que eu previa...

Já escrevi muitas vezes por aqui que uso este espaço também como uma espécies de arquivo pessoal, onde coloco tudo o que gosto, tenho interesse e acho que vale apena ser lembrado. Por esta razão, este post é indispensável, pois já que continuo como minha mania de vasculhar listas, o blog é o lugar certo para guardá-las.

Este trabalho de compilar as listas de melhores do ano publicadas pelos principais veículos de comunicação mundo afora é algo que faço todo ano. É sempre interessante saber de onde vem a "inspiração" para uma parcela dos chamados formadores de opinião brazucas. Também é legal ver o quanto certos críticos podem ser pedantes.

São 23 listas. Se você não conhece parte destas publicações, eu recomendo. Todas são muito interessantes e podem te fazer ficar informado mais rapidamente sobre o que acontece por aí.

 Destaques para os discos da musa PJ Harvey e da banda folk Bon Iver, que são os que mais aparecem. Aliás, bem que eu previ num post de fevereiro do ano passado (leia aqui) que o album da PJ Harvey estaria entre os melhores...

PJ HARVEY LANÇA "LET ENGLAND SHAKE" - JÁ VALE VOTAR NO DISCO DO ANO?

Pois é. Fanatismo é mesmo uma desgraça... Ainda bem que este blog pessoal nos permite exagerar nos posts e títulos.

Claro que é muito precoce cravar um disco como o melhor de 2011 quando nem chegamos na metade de fevereiro. Ainda mais num ano em que pesos pesados do calibre de REM, Strokes, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age e Radiohead devem lançar trabalhos novos.

Soma-se a isso o fato de eu ter escutado "Let England Shake" apenas três vezes (por enquanto). Mas devo dizer que achei sensacional o novo disco da musa PJ Harvey.

O sucessor do ótimo "A Woman a Man Walked By" de 2009, lançado em parceria com John Parish (participa deste também) está saindo do forno!

PJ HARVEY LANÇA "LET ENGLAND SHAKE" - JÁ VALE VOTAR NO DISCO DO ANO?

Pois é. Fanatismo é mesmo uma desgraça... Ainda bem que este blog pessoal nos permite exagerar nos posts e títulos.

Claro que é muito precoce cravar um disco como o melhor de 2011 quando nem chegamos na metade de fevereiro. Ainda mais num ano em que pesos pesados do calibre de REM, Strokes, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age e Radiohead devem lançar trabalhos novos.

Soma-se a isso o fato de eu ter escutado "Let England Shake" apenas três vezes (por enquanto). Mas devo dizer que achei sensacional o novo disco da musa PJ Harvey.

O sucessor do ótimo "A Woman a Man Walked By" de 2009, lançado em parceria com John Parish (participa deste também) está saindo do forno!

MARK LANEGAN - IMPERDÍVEL!

Este aqui é daqueles posts cujo prazer em escrever fica acima da média. Um prazer de compartilhar coisas que considero realmente especiais.

Faz tempo que estou para soltar um texto sobre o cantor e compositor norte-americano Mark Lanegan, do qual sou profundo admirador. Com a notícia de que este maravilhoso vocalista se apresentará em São Paulo agora em junho, virou obrigação.

Você que gosta de boa música não pode perder a chance de assistir esta fera ao vivo no próximo dia 24, ainda como parte do festival POPLOAD GIG (escrevi sobre o que é no post anterior). O show será no Comitê Club, local que está sendo inaugurado na rua Augusta. Esta apresentação faz parte de uma turnê que Lanegan está fazendo ao lado do guitarrista David Rosser (do Twilight Singers) e passará ainda pela Argentina, Chile (ambos em junho), Nova Zelândia e Austrália (Oceania em julho). A pegada desta tour é acústica, portanto serão só os dois, sem banda de apoio.

Mais um pouco e a coisa fica ainda mais perfeita, já que em Setembro o cara tem shows marcados na Europa com uma de suas melhores parceiras, Isobel Campbell.

Mas vamos por partes. Nem sei se todos vocês tem o prazer de conhecer o Mark Lanegan. Pois bem, na década de 80, o cara foi um dos fundadores da cultuada banda Screaming Trees. Juntos eles lançaram "Clairvoyance" em 1986, "Even If And Especially When" em 1987, "Invisible Lantern" em 1988 e "Buzz Factory" em 1989. Nesta época, o esquema ainda era underground e praticamente não havia mídia em cima. As coisas começaram a mudar com o lançamento de "Uncle Anesthesia" em 1991 (já numa gravadora maior) e guinaram para o alto definitivamente com "Sweet Oblivion" em 1992. Era o auge do chamado movimento grunge de Seattle e apesar do Screaming Trees não ser da cidade, o bom relacionamento de Mark com as bandas locais como Soundgarden, Alice in Chains e Nirvana, fez com que o grupo estivesse inserido dentro da mesma onda. O sucesso não atingiu o mesmo patamar destas outras bandas, mas os caras ficaram bem conhecidos na época. Porém depois deste, só saiu mais um disco, que foi "Dust" de 1996. Lanegan que já tinha iniciado uma carreira solo em paralelo desde de 1990, passou a dedicar menos tempo a banda e em 2000 o Screaming Trees encerrou de vez as atividades.

A discografia impecável de Mark Lanegan começou com "The Winding Sheet" de 1990 e "Whiskey For The Holy Ghost" (maravilhoso) de 1994, ambos ainda fazendo parte do Screaming Trees e se consolidou com "Scraps At Midnight" (meu preferido) de 1998, "I'll Take Care Of You" (só de covers das antigas) de 1999, "Field Songs" de 2001, "Here Comes That Weird Chill" de 2003 e "Bubblegum" de 2004.

Nos anos 2000, Lanegan intensificou sua colaboração em discos de outros artistas, prática que vem desde o começo de sua carreira. Em 2000, iniciou sua parceria com a excelente banda Queens Of The Stone Age com o disco "R" e de lá para cá, ele participa de todos os trabalhos deste grupo, tendo inclusive uma boa dose de contribuição dentro de um dos melhores discos da década passada, na minha opinião, que é o "Songs For The Deaf".

Junto com Josh Homme (líder do QOSA) gravou para o projeto Desert Sessions (com um monte de fera). Gravou vocal para a musa Melissa Auf Der Maur. Iniciou e mantem uma parceria que já rendeu dois ótimos discos com a vocalista Isobel Campbell (do lindo Belle and Sebastian). Fez o vocal de algumas músicas para a também cultuada banda Eagles Of Death Metal. Desenvolveu um trabalho junto de Greg Dulli (da indie Afghan Whigs) chamado de The Gutter Twins, sendo que este último projeto trouxe os dois para o Brasil numa excelente apresentação no Bourboon Street ano passado. Fora isso, tem mais uma série de participações em vários outros trabalhos por aí.

Finalizando, independente de você poder ou não ir a este show, não deixe de conhecer o máximo das vertentes do Mark Lanegan. A palavra mais utilizada para descrever seu estilo vocal é único. Mas podemos usar também sombrio ou soturno, que cairia bem. Uma voz que parece ser tratada com muito whisky e traz uma vontade de tomar um porre... Recomendo muito.
